Emily,

I’ve come across Icke before. And while Bonnaci is unfamiliar to me, I’ve encountered similar teachers and insights.

My take? It’s a bit complicated and lengthy, but in a few words… I finally concluded that the best approach is one in which we rely on ourself. I don’t mean to imply by that that I embrace so-called rugged individualism and reject social inter-dependence. Rather, it’s a bit more like Emerson and his lauding of each person’s inner star or compass. Something that I alternatively call deeper inner discernment or our inner truth barometer. It’s the notion of finding the Truth within ourselves.

This was somewhat brought home to me back in the 1980s/1990s when I was first exposed to books authored by self-acclaimed mediums. They claimed they were channeling the reptilian Pleiadians in some cases, or the Archangel Michael in other instances. In fact, I found myself coming across so many books channeling Michael that I seriously began to wonder how he could be so productive. I was also struck by how so much of the channeling genre seemed to connect to entities that talked baby talk.

My questions built. I began to wonder how someone would know that they were, in fact, connecting to the Archangel himself. Assuming it was a real spiritual being, how would I know if it wasn’t actually some guy named Joe, faking he was something more than he really was? It’s been known to happen… and as above, so below.

So many questions. Because when mediums connected to their guides, they often described a manner of allowing their own minds — and in some cases their bodies- to host. Which made me question very fundamental issues, such as, how do you even know that your thoughts are yours? Might not someone or something else be squeezing in there with you? I mean, it did seem entirely possible based on their claims.

Along the way, I became deeply involved in consciousness research, which, looking back, seemed a suitable landing point for a guy with my kinds of questions.

The experiences and content which grew out of those years of research filled volumes of typed and hand-written notes. I’m only recently beginning to publish a bit of that, because my concern has always been having such experiences and insights assigned to the fringes and immediately marginalized.

While that’s likely to happen regardless of my cautions, I’ve felt rather strongly that at the very least I needed to improve my skills as a writer. I’m slowly getting there. And that’s part of why I’m on Medium.

It is my opinion, based on experience, that there is a bigger ‘game’ going on than what we all tend to realize. It’s also my opinion that reincarnation is a reality. It’s an opinion, and I’ll never try to convince someone of something they should be out to discover, prove or disprove for themselves. We have far too many people and movements who are out to prove they’re right and everyone else is wrong. Enough with all the right and wrong stuff. The Truth can stand on its own.
