I agree. I live in southern California. I moved here in 2007, and I immediately noticed how isolated people live. I had become used to the friendliness of the South, and the warm neighborhoods of Long Island and Pittsburgh.

I’m compelled to wonder if that’s why some of us are drawn to writing. Because it’s writing, not texting. It can be warmer, more engaging. Writing gives us a chance to talk deeper, to get to know each other better, sometimes better than in person..
