I like your style of writing. It’s conversational, has nice even flow, and it’s accessible. I believe those are really important qualities.

It took me a long time to get my writing to what I’d call an acceptable level. At first it seemed like anything would do. I’ve saved it all, and looking back I can see how disjointed it was. It was as though I expected the reader to just fall right in with me, without any context.

I also had to learn transitions. I first realized the importance of them when I read books like Dan Brown’s The Davinci Code. Every chapter ended with a cliffhanger, compelling readers to keep moving. Looking past the yarn itself, it took me a quite a while to understand what he was doing.

I’m no Dan Brown, and clearly nowhere near the quality of a best-selling writer. But, the years of being an amateur and sticking with it have been a lot of fun.

PS — Looking forward to getting an article from you!
