What’s up, Joe?

Governor Andrew Cuomo is given free air time, every single day. He dominates the airwaves, conveying compassionate, competent leadership. He’s out there. He’s leading. What about you?

Senator Bernie Sanders just emailed America his Six Core Provisions. It’s simple, comprehensive, workable, relatable and understandable. He’s out there. He’s leading. What about you?

Seriously, where’s Joe? He’s in his basement… considering his VP choice.

I understand if Joe’s wanting to isolate-in-place. He’s older, higher risk. But his competition, love him or hate him, is out there every day shilling his dark messages from the White House, a place undoubtably crawling with COVID-19 from its hundreds of daily staff and visitors.

I’m living in California, under the nation’s first Shelter-in-Place order. “Shelter in the time of storm.” I get it. I live my life a lot that way, anyway. And I’m not saying you should be reckless, Joe. But this should be your moment, Joe.

Joe isn’t giving me confidence. I see him as a bob and weave fighter who needs a lot more than rope-a-dope in his act, along with some serious counter-punching.

Gavin Newsom gets it, Joe. He says it all the time. “Meet the moment.” It’s not a game, Joe. It’s humanity. Don’t you get it? That’s the stakes.

It’s not all that much about showing you can take a punch. It’s about defending everyday Americans in a way that neutralizes and defeats the enemy. Class Warfare is not simply letting ourselves be bulldozed into mass graves. It’s about having the heart and mind to fight back and to defeat the Dark Forces.

Trump: “Somehow, sitting in the Oval Office behind that beautiful Resolute Desk, the great Resolute Desk, I think wearing a face mask as I greet presidents, prime ministers, dictators, kings, queens, I don’t know, somehow I don’t see it for myself.”

You don’t defeat the Dark Side from your basement. So yes, unlike Trump’s refusal to wear a mask, put on your superhero mask. Deliver the twin fists of fairness and harmony. We need you, Joe.

Six Core Provisions

Bernie Sanders outlined six core provisions that must be included in the next legislation Congress passes to support working people during this horrific crisis:

  1. Addressing the employment crisis and providing immediate financial relief, including maintaining paychecks and distributing monthly checks for every person in the country;
  2. Guaranteeing paid health care for all for the entirety of the crisis;
  3. Using the Defense Production Act to make necessary equipment;
  4. Make sure no one goes hungry;
  5. Provide emergency aid to cities and states;
  6. Suspend monthly payments for four months, including rent, mortgages, medical debt and consumer debt collection.
