My brother has taught extensively on the concept of ‘the moment’. One of the things he points out is that a moment varies in size. What he means by this is not necessarily obvious.
For example, if someone says, “I’ll be with you in just a moment,” we can laugh and wonder aloud how long their interpretation of ‘moment’ will be. Does it mean they are just outside our apartment door, or does it mean they are going to keep us waiting for an hour? This is not the kind of moment he is referring to. Rather, it has more to do with another expression called, “living in the now.”
How long is the ‘now’? Is it a split second? Ten seconds? Longer or shorter? Because depending on how we relate to the concept of the moment or the now, determines the degree to which we transcend time itself. How wide our relationship with the moment is, determines the inclusiveness of our life (or lives).
