Spirituality is indeed self-serving if it is not based in practical, useful applications. Take the terms ‘Prayer and Meditation’. Just as we can equate meditation to the opportunity to inhale, to receive or be inspired, we can similarly view prayer as the exhale, the giving, the outcome. From my point of view it’s even simpler: spirituality means very little unless it’s being applied in practical and useful ways that either help you as an individual, help or improve your family or friends, your community or job, or anything else that you connect with.
